Ateneo Grade School Parking Lot Accident

Lifted from Chuvaness (as per an email she received)

The mom who hit Amiel Alcantara was in an old Hiace van, waiting for her son to come out. She had a driver, and when the driver saw her son, he went down from the van and left it idling. The cars in front of the van moved already, a big gap was left in front of the van, so the cars behind the van began blowing their horns to make the van move. THe mom went down to move the van. That's when she accidentally stepped on the gas, instead of the brakes, rear-ending the car in front of her, which in turn, hit the car in front of it. The impact was strong, but that wasn't when Amiel was hit.

The mom, in her panic, then reversed very quickly. She didn't see Amiel and his yaya crossing behind her van, looking for their own car. That's when she hit the boy and the yaya. She didn't even realize that she had hit two people, she kept going in reverse, even if the other drivers and bystanders were screaming for her to stop.

They had to extricate poor Amiel from under the van. My friend's driver was one of the people who helped carry him. When my friend saw him, she knew at once that he was gone. She saw his things scattered on the ground, even the hotdog he was eating right before the accident.

From Fabulous Fortysomething:

The saddest part is that according to reports, Mrs. Torres, herself a mother of a fourth grader at the Ateneo, has not offered any apologies to the Alcantara family and claims that it was all an accident.

Let's pray for Amiel's soul and that this wll never happen again..

Feb Fair '09

The morning after:
Pagod
Nahirapan maghanap ng matutulugan (after hours of wandering around LB and dropping by at Anest, we decided to book in Palm Springs Resort)
Nainggit ako sa mga nagswi-swimming

I like to thank this couple for allowing me to be their official third wheel even during Vday. Babawi kami next year! Mas maaga kami darating ng LB, iinom sa Isis or LB Square, at magswi-swimming kami *fingers crossed*

Feb 14*

Haha. Well, except for Ja.

Hehe.

Salamat sa post-birthday treat, Ja. :)

*isang post-Valentine's Day entry, obviously

Mali.

Me quota ang pag-ibig.

Letter Day Story

I was tuned in RX 93.1 a while ago when I heard the song "Ikaw Pa Rin" which I thought was familiar. It was only after the chorus when I realized that the song is the first single (I think) of Letter Day Story.

LDS is the 2008 NESCAFE Soundskool champion. I got to interview them for a couple of times for Soundskool writeups. I wasn't rooting for the band to be the grand winner but I can say that among the finalists, LDS was the "pinakahinog" and prepared to be next hottest act. During the interviews that I did, I noticed that the members know how to answer questions. They provided lengthy (but sensible) replies to my questions and that was good. I think they are also nice and polite. One of the band members (Oliver Agustin) even texted me during the holidays to say the group's Christmas and New Year greetings.

LDS also sang the Revicon song "Pasitib" which I often hear during radio commercial breaks. The group has signed a record deal under Sony BMG. You can find more about the band here and here.

I'm writing about all these because I have to work tomorrow. There's a Soundskool-CHED event tomorrow so it reminds of the band. I hope I can still continue my movie plan despite my weekend job assignment. Good luck to me.

What now?

- I have decided to treat myself to at least two movies per month. This weekend I'm planning to watch Jay or Milk or both, depende sa mood and sa budget (I'm trying to save because the whole financial crisis thing scares me and I dunno why I'm scared I just feel like I really need to save. Weird no?). The last time I went to a moviehouse was when my sister and I watched Love Me Again (Land Down Under). The rest of my movie pleasures come from pirated DVDs and youku.com.

I am planning to watch the abovementioned movies alone. I haven't tried watching films in a moviehouse by myself. Weird di ba? I really want to experience that! Just me and my popcorn in front of the silver screen.

I tried watching The Dark Knight alone last year but my family didn't allow me saying that 1.) it's dangerous to be in a dark room full of strangers and 2.) having a movie date with myself is completely ridiculous. So I brought my sister to Trinoma and she got to see the film for free (yeah, I paid for her ticket). Okay na sana kaya lang she kept on whispering things while we were watching and I completely hate that. I mean it's okay to say a thing or two but my sister was constantly whispering stuff so I didn't 100% enjoyed the film.

So that's what I'm planning to do this Saturday (I just hope I don't have to work on that day *fingers crossed*).

- Stephen King hates Stephanie Meyer! Haha.

- Alam ko na ang hitsura/itsura ni The Waiter of Waiter Rant. When I read his blog I always think that he'd look like Kevin Spacey pero kamukha niya si Peter Griffin (Family Guy).

- I saw the pilot episode of the Tadyang telenovela of Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes. Dingdong's gf is played by Angelu De Leon. Creepy. I can still remember Iñaki calling her Ate Peachy in T.G.I.S..

- I'm suffering from dysmenorrhoea..

- I'm gonna go out later (as in right after writing this entry) to have some ice cream :)

- I'll try to finish Robert Louis Stevenson's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Six Other Strange Tales before the week ends.

- The "Her Morning Elegance" video is cool.
